SAAC To Put On Evening Program 'The Other Side'
Jan. 13, 2003
CORVALLIS, Ore. - -
The Oregon State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee invites anyone and everyone to 'The Other Side' - an evening program showcasing OSU student-athletes' off-the-field talents - on January 14, 2003 at 7 p.m. in the CH2M Hill Alumni Center.
Student-athletes will perform throughout the evening while enjoying the company of those in attendance. Among the performances will be baseball's Kerisi Reynolds on the piano, women's soccer player Courtney Carter singing accompanied my men's soccer player Josh Boys on the guitar, football player Josh Hawkins on the piano, and acting from the women's basketball team. The focus of the evening is to display the diverse talents of OSU's student-athletes.
''The Other Side' will give our student-athletes the opportunity to show the community some of their talents we don't often get to see, as well as give the public an opportunity to meet coaches and athletes,' OSU athletic director Bob De Carolis said. 'This should be a fun evening for everyone involved.'
A special dedication will take place in honor of Joe Zaher, the men's soccer student-athlete who was fatally injured in a car accident on Dec. 1.
A silent auction featuring autographed OSU memorabilia will also take place throughout the evening to raise money for the Joe Zaher Scholarship Fund as well as for SAAC.
Tickets are available at the OSU ticket office in Gill Coliseum; prices are $5 for adults and $3 for students and seniors (60 and over). Dessert and refreshments are included, and the public is encouraged to meet and spend time throughout the evening with the coaches and student-athletes.
