Division I Bracket (in pdf)

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State wrestling team (5-3, 1-0 Pac-10), ranked nationally between No. 7 and No. 12 among three polls, will travel to Columbus, Ohio, this weekend for the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) National Duals as the No. 8 seed in the tournament. Only eight of the 16 teams competing are seeded prior to the tournament, to be held Saturday and Sunday at St. John Arena on the Ohio State campus.

The dual is slated for a 9 a.m. EST start on Saturday and will be only the second time the two teams have faced one another. ASU took a 34-9 victory on Jan. 21, 1989, also on a neutral site, to take the lead in the short-lived series. The winner of the match will take on the winner of the No. 1 Oklahoma State-Northern Iowa dual with the loser falling into the consolation bracket to face the loser of the OSU-UNI dual.

The Sun Devils are joined by seven other schools in the tournament seeding list. Oklahoma State took top-billing and is followed by No. 2 Iowa and No. 3 Minnesota, the two-time defending champions of both the NCAA tournament and the National Duals. Cornell comes in at No. 4 and is followed in order by No. 5 Ohio State, No. 6 West Virginia and No. 7 Michigan. The remaining teams include Ohio, Michigan State, Iowa State, Oklahoma, Boise State and Central Michigan.

First round action is slated for 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. (EST). ASU, win or lose, will return to the mats at 1 p.m. Saturday. To advance to action Sunday, the Sun Devils must win at least two duals in the double-elimination format tournament.
