Pac-10 Notes

ARIZONA - The Wildcats earned their second straight weekend conference sweep to move to 4-0 in Pac-10 play. It is the fifth time that Arizona has started league play 4-0 under Lute Olson and the first time since 1999-2000. In each of the previous four occasions (1988, 1993, 1998, 2000), the Cats went on to win the Pac-10 title. Each Arizona team to start league play 4-0 has gone on to win at least 15 conference games...Rebounding has been a key to the Wildcats' 4-0 Pac-10 start, as the team is outrebounding league opponents by a +13.5 margin. No league opponent has collected more than 35 rebounds against Arizona this season...With 266 Pac-10 victories in his 20th season, Olson has tied former Washington coach Marv Harshman for third in career league victories. Ahead of Olson are UCLA's John Wooden (304 wins, 27 years) and Oregon State's Slats Gill (276 wins, 31 years)... Sophomore guard Salim Stoudamire averaged 18.5 points in the sweep of the Washington schools. He connected on 10-of-10 at the line to run his league-leading free throw percentage to 93.5 percent (29-of-31).

ARIZONA STATE - The Sun Devils are 7-1 over their last eight games. With a win on Thursday, the Sun Devils would open league play at 4-1 for the first time since the 1987-88 season... The Sun Devils meet UCLA Thursday in Pauley Pavilion. Last season, ASU defeated UCLA - snapping a 15-game losing streak to the Bruins in Pauley...Freshman Ike Diogu ranks in the top ten in the Pac-10 in scoring and rebounding. The last Pac-10 freshman to finish the season ranked in the top ten in both categories was California's Shareef Abdur-Rahim in 1996...Diogu is averaging 19.0 points/7.8 rebounds over the past eight games...The Sun Devils recorded 13 blocked shots against Washington. Senior forward Tommy Smith accounted for six blocked shots. For the season, Smith has a league-leading 39 blocked shots (2.60 bpg). His 137 career blocked shots rank fourth on ASU's career list... ASU has held nine opponents to under 40 percent field goal shooting this season... ASU's 63 percent shooting against Washington State is the best in league play for the Devils since shooting 66.7 percent against Oregon State on Mar. 9, 1990.

CALIFORNIA - The Bears are 3-0 in league play for the first time since the 1996 season. A 4-0 start would be the first since 1957 when the Pete Newell-directed squad jumped out to a 10-0 mark in the old Pacific Coast Conference... Senior forward Joe Shipp (20.6 ppg), sophomore forward Amit Tamir (16.8 ppg) and senior forward Brian Wethers (14.3 ppg) combine to average 51.7 points per game, or 68 percent of the team's scoring total. All three are ranked in the top 10 in the league in scoring. Not since 1990 has Cal had three players average at least 14 ppg (Roy Fisher - 14.9 ppg, Brian Hendrick - 14.9 ppg, Keith Smith - 16.6 ppg)...The Bears home court winning streak stands at 13 games. Over the past two seasons, Cal is 24-1 in Haas - the only loss was a 68-58 setback to Arizona - while the Bears' record since the start of the 2000-01 season is a Pac-10 best 38-4.

OREGON - Junior guard Luke Ridnour pushed his career scoring total over 1,000 career points when he scored 19 points at Stanford. His career total stands at 1,014...he is also the only Duck to reach double figures in all 14 games this season... Oregon hosts Oregon State on Saturday. The Ducks have won seven in a row, and 16 of the last 17 over the Beavers. The Ducks have won the last nine games played against the Beavers in Mac Court... Oregon leads the league in free throw percentage (.730), thanks in large part to Ridnour (54-of-69, .783) and junior teammate Luke Jackson (62-of-73, .849).

Sophomore forward Nick Robinson started for the first time in his Cardinal career and averaged 9.5 points/9.0 rebounds against the Oregon schools, including his first career double-double with 13 points/11 rebounds against Oregon... The victory over Oregon ran Stanford's winning streak over the Ducks in Maples Pavilion to 17.

UCLA - Senior forward Jason Kapono ran his career scoring total to 1,804 points - sixth on the UCLA career scoring chart (No. 5, Ed O'Bannon, 1,815/1991-95)...
