Baseball Earns Another No. 6 Preseason Ranking

LOS ANGELES -- The USC baseball team was ranked No. 6 in the 2003 Sports Weekly/ESPN Top 25 Preseason College Baseball Coaches poll released today. USC is ranked No. 3 in the Collegiate Baseball preseason poll and No. 6 by Baseball America.

USC returns six starting position players and eight pitchers from last year's squad that finished with a 37-24 overall record, reaching the NCAA Super Regional. The Trojans won their second straight Pac-10 Conference title with a 17-7 mark.

Texas earned 19 of 41 possible first-place votes to earn the No. 1 spot, followed by Georgia Tech, Florida State, Rice, Stanford, USC, LSU, South Carolina, Arizona State and Cal State Fullerton.

The Trojans will play in the Alumni Game on Saturday (Feb. 1) at Dedeaux Field at 1 p.m. and will begin the regular season on Feb. 4 at UC Santa Barbara at 2 p.m. All games will be carried live on
