Ashlee Rosenthal Wins 1-Meter At Bruin Diving Invitational

Pasadena, Calif. - Ashlee Rosenthal captured the 1-meter event at the Bruin Diving Invitational on the second and final day of competition at the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center on Saturday. The victory was Rosenthal's first of the season and also marked the first time she has won an invitational collegiate event. She won two events in dual meet competition during her rookie campaign in 2001-02.
Rosenthal scored a combined 504.50 points in two rounds of competition, easily outdistancing second-place Paige Thompson of host UCLA (464.40). USC's Blythe Hartley won the platform with 440.50 points, one day after capturing the 3-meter competition on the opening day of the event.
Stanford's Michaela Skloven also had a pair of top 10 finishes on Saturday, placing seventh in the platform (career-high 306.65 points) and ninth in the 1-meter (416.15 combined points). Lauren Donovan competed in the semifinals of the 1-meter prelims and finished 26th with 76.50 points.
The Cardinal will next be in action when the Stanford women's swimming and diving team opens its Pac-10 season at Arizona next Friday, January 25 (2 pm, MT) and Arizona State on Saturday, January 26 (12 pm, MT).
