Ridnour, Ducks Get Hot To Beat Beavers

EUGENE, Ore. - Luke Ridnour and Luke Jackson combined on a second-halfsurge that gave No. 22 Oregon a 79-68 victory over Oregon State on Saturday.
The Ducks (12-4, 2-3 Pac-10) struggled in the first half, but led by as manyas 12 in the second. Ridnour had 28 points, 19 in the second half, and 11assists, while Jackson finished with 19 points.
Oregon State (7-7, 0-5) has lost five straight under first-year coach JayJohn. The Beavers were paced by Philip Ricci with 24 points and 11 rebounds.
It was the 317th meeting between the teams in a series that dates to the1902-03 season. Oregon State leads the overall series 176-141.
The Ducks have won 18 of the last 19 meetings, including eight in a row. TheBeavers have not downed the Ducks since the 1998-99 season, when they won 48-45at Gill Coliseum in Corvallis.
Oregon State jumped out to a 16-9 lead after padding a 7-0 run that put themup 11-5.
Oregon State kept it close, pulling to 29-29 on Ricci's rebound shot with2:26 to go. But the Beavers could not quite reclaim the lead and Oregon wasnarrowly ahead 34-31 at the half.
The Beavers maintained the pressure in the second half, with Ricci tying itat 42 with 16:59 left.
The Ducks started to pull away midway though the half, taking a 55-48 leadon Ridnour's driving layup. The Ducks widened the margin when Ridnour fed aperfect pass to Jackson on a fast break with 10:07 to go.
Robert Johnson gave Oregon its widest margin with a jumper that made it75-63 with 1:03 left.
Going into Saturday's game that Ducks were struggling. Ranked as high as No.5 last month, Oregon dropped in the polls with three losses in their previousfive games.
Ridnour has scored in double figures in all 16 games this season. He was9-for-9 against the Beavers at the free-throw line.
