Daniel Langre, Prakash Amritraj To Play For Doubles Title On Monday

WESTLAKE, Calif. -- USC men's tennis junior Daniel Langre and sophomore Prakash Amritraj advanced to the doubles finals of the Sherwood Collegiate Cup by upsetting UCLA's 39th-ranked Tobias Clemens and Lassi Ketola on Sunday afternoon. The Trojan pair will face sixth-ranked Ryan Redondo and Oliver Maiberger of San Diego State on Monday, Jan. 20, at 1 p.m. for the championship.
The four-day tournament, held at the Sherwood Country Club in Westlake Village, has featured top-ranked players from UCLA, Cal, San Deigo State and USC.
The unranked Langre and Amritraj were the only USC duo to advance past the first round of doubles play.
In singles, transfer Johan Berg had an outstanding run. Berg defeated Michael Coelho of San Diego State, 6-2, 6-0, and upset No. 31 Conor Niland of Cal, 7-5, 6-2, before falling to UCLA's Rodrigo Grilli in the quarterfinals. Amritraj advanced to the Round of 16 with a win over Cal's Patrick Briaud, 6-2, 6-1, in the opener. He was then beat by No. 38 Erfan Diahangiri of UCLA, 2-6, 6-2, 6-2.
