We're No.1! We're No. 1! We're No. 1!

Corvallis, Ore. - That was the chant immediately after Ted Carlson made his most famous announcement into the Gill Coliseum courtside microphone on Jan. 10, 1981. His announcement? Old Dominion had defeated No. 1 DePaul, which enabled Oregon State to claim the top ranking in the college basketball world two days later.

That announcement was voted as the top moment in Beaver basketball history, in a poll conducted on osubeavers.com.

Carlson's famous message edged out Oregon State's 1974 victory over UCLA, ending the Bruins' 50-game conference win streak. The hiring of then future Naismith Hall of Fame coach Ralph Miller was a close third.
