Buffs Wrap Up At Air Force Invite

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Colorado track & field team wrapped up its first road meet of the year this Saturday at the Air Force Invitational. Both the CU men and women had several athletes score as over 25 of the Buff tracksters competed in the final day of this two day event.

In women's action, junior sprinter Deneeka Torrey turned in one of the top performances of the day, taking fourth in the women's finals of the 400 meter dash with her time of 58.82. Freshman Christine Bolf was the top collegiate finisher in the women's 3,000 meter run, taking third in 10:37.12. Katy Kissane was seventh in the women's 5,000 meters with her time of 19:58.98, and junior Kendall Grgas Wheeler was sixth in the mile run in 5:34.58.

In field events action, freshman Maxine Marlow had the top CU finish of the day in the long jump, taking third with her leap of 17-10.25. Sophomore Anna Magle took fifth in the women's high jump with her leap of 5-3.

One the men's side, freshman Chris Abuan was the top track event finisher, taking fifth in the 400 meter dash in his time of 49.21. Classmate Brett Schoolmeester was sixth in the 3,000 mters in 8:51.80, while sophomore Andrew Miller was CU's top field events finisher, taking fifth in the high jump with his mark of 6-06-75.

Colorado will be back in action on February 15 at the Nebraska Lincoln Invitational.
