Wildcats Waltz Past Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Dee-Dee Wheeler scored 23 points and No. 19 Arizonaended the game on a 9-2 run to defeat Wisconsin 62-55 Sunday.

Arizona (13-5) also got 13 points from Julie Brase and 12 from NatalieJones.

Stephanie Rich scored 13 points to lead Wisconsin (4-14), which went withouta field goal for the final 3:29 of the game.

Brase's 3-pointer with 2:40 left in the game broke a 53-53 tie and gave theWildcats the lead for good. Wheeler then went 5-of-6 from the free-throw lineover the final 2:29 to clinch the victory.

Arizona won despite playing without starter Aimee Grzyb, who averages 12.4points per game, because of an undisclosed illness. Shawntinice Polk, theWildcats' leading scorer and rebounder, finished with just nine points and sixrebounds. Polk didn't start the second half because she felt ill at halftimeand fouled out with 5:41 left.

Wisconsin led much of the game, but Brase, who had three 3-pointers in thegame, hit one with 8:01 left to put Arizona ahead 43-42. It was the Wildcats'first lead since midway through the first half.

Wisconsin regained the lead momentarily on Ashley Josephson's 3-pointer, butArizona's Natalie Jones hit a 3-pointer with the shot clock winding down to putthe Wildcats up 47-45.

Wisconsin led 27-23 at the end of a sloppy first half in which the teamscombined for 27 turnovers. The Badgers missed eight of their first 10 shots andtrailed 10-2 before going on a 17-4 run.

Arizona scored 10 points in the opening 3:22, then scored just 13 the restof the half.
