Arizona's Gardner Named Pac-10 Player Of The Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - ARIZONA senior guard Jason Gardner has been named the Pacific-10 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for January 20 - January 26, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Gardner, from Indianapolis, Ind., averaged 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists in Arizona wins over Arizona State and at Kansas. He put in 19 points, nabbed seven boards, and recorded four assists and four steals in the Wildcats' victory over the Sun Devils. At Kansas, he was on the floor all 40 minutes, pouring in 23 points along with seven rebounds, six assists and two steals. For the week, he shot 11-of-26 (.423) from the field, 4-of-12 from three point land (.333) and 16-of-21 (.762) from the free throw line.
No. 1-ranked Arizona (15-1, 7-0 in Pac-10) defeated ASU at home, 71-63 and went on the road to defeat No. 6-ranked Kansas, 91-74.
It is the third weekly award for Gardner, the 57th all-time honor for the Wildcats.
