Pac-10 Notes

ARIZONA - The Wildcats moved its season-long win streak to 10 games, its longest since the 2000-01 squad won 11 straight. Arizona's current 15-1 start is the fourth-best start in school history...Arizona's erasure of a 20-point first-half deficit at Kansas equaled the second-biggest comeback win for the Cats in the Lute Olson era. Last season Arizona came back to defeat Oregon State in Tucson on Jan. 6, 2002, after trailing by 21 points late in the first half. Two weeks later, the Wildcats erased a 20-point deficit in defeating UCLA on Jan. 19, 2002, in Tucson...Credit sophomore guard Salim Stoudamire for helping Arizona outscore Kansas 67-30 over the game's final 25:41, as he tallied a career-high 32 points. He connected on 12-of-18 field goal attempts, including 6-of-9 from three-point range, en route to the first 30-point game of his career. Stoudamire hit 7-of-10 field goal attempts (4-of-5 from three-point range) to finish with 20 second-half points, which was two fewer than the entire Kansas club tallied...Over the last four games, senior guard Jason Gardner is averaging 7.3 rebounds per game and has grabbed no fewer than five in that span.

ARIZONA STATE - The Sun Devils will play at home for just the third time in 33 days on Thursday vs. Cal as they opened Pac-10 play with five of the first seven on the road and will play seven of their first 11 in the opposing team's arenas. ASU has played 10 games away from Tempe this year and is 5-5 in those games. ...Senior guard Curtis Millage has seven 20-point games in his career, all of them away from Tempe...Freshman forward Ike Diogu's 157 free throw attempts (8.72 per game) is on pace to break the ASU single-season mark of 234 (7.1 per game) set by Mario Bennett in 1994-95. Diogu's 157 attempts has already topped the ASU freshman record of 140 set by Bennett in 1991-92...ASU is 37-of-44 (.841) from the free throw line in the past two games...Senior forward Tommy Smith has posted a Pac-10 leading 44 blocks on the year and has notched 40 assists in the past 10 games...ASU is 25-4 (.862) when it leads at the half in the past two seasons.

CALIFORNIA - At 7-0, the Bears are off to their best start in league play since the 1957 squad under head coach Pete Newell began 10-0 in the old Pacific Coast Conference, while the Bears' overall record of 14-2 is the team's best since Newell's 1959-60 squad was 28-2 en route to an NCAA runner-up finish....The Bears have won eight straight games overall, and 14 consecutive contests in Haas Pavilion. The last time Cal won eight in a row was during the 1992-93 season (Feb. 25-Mar. 20). To find a streak longer than eight in a row, you'd have to go back to the 1959-60 season when the Bears rolled off 19 straight wins...Freshman guard Richard Midgley averaged 17.5 points in Cal's sweep over the LA schools. He scored a career-high 23 points vs. USC, including a tip-in with 44 seconds left to give Cal a 71-68 lead...Senior forward Brian Wethers needs seven points to reach 1,000 points for his career.

OREGON - In the game against Washington, junior forward Luke Jackson suffered a severe laceration on the ring finger of his right hand, requiring 13 stitches and is doubtful this week...Junior guard Luke Ridnour averaged 21.5 points and 9.0 assists in the sweep of the Washington schools. He recorded a career high 11 assists against Washington...Oregon set a school and McArthur Court free throw percentage record by hitting 19-19 free throw attempts against Washington State. The previous mark was .960 (24-25) set by the Ducks three years ago against Arizona...Ridnour, who was 11-of-11 at the line against the Cougars, is currently riding a hot streak at the charity stripe - connecting on 29 consecutive attempts... Junior guard Andre Joseph scored a career-high 18 points against Washington, and starting for the injured Luke Jackson, scored 13 with a career-high five steals against Washington State...The Duck bench has outscored the opposing bench in 14 of 18 games this season, and UO is 12-2 when outscoring the opponent's bench...Ridnour is averaging 9.67 assists per game over the last three contests.

OREGON STATE - OSU had 9 blocked shots vs. Washington, one shy of the school record - the team had 17 total for the week. OSU is on pace for 108 blocked shots this season, which would be the program's most since 1993 (111)...The Beavers, riding a two-game Conference win streak, are looking to make it three straight for the first time since the 1998-99 season (defeated ARIZ, ASU and ORE)...OSU's 82 points vs. Washington is a season-high, which included six players in double figures, four scoring 12 or more points...Four of OSU's last five opponents have shot 41 percent or less, including Washington and Washington State combining for .304 (42-138)...Freshman point guard Lamar Hurd is shooting .681 (15-22), and has 20 assists to just 7 turnovers over the past four games...Senior forward Philip Ricci has posted four consecutive double-doubles. He's fifth in the league in scoring (17.4 ppg) and second in rebounding (8.8 rpg)

STANFORD - Senior guard Julius Barnes was a perfect 13-of-13 from the free throw line against USC. Perfection from the line with more than 13 attempts has been achieved five other times in Stanford history. Barnes has hit on 19 of his last 20 free throw attempts...The Cardinal entered last week's games last in the league in free throw percentage (.640). Stanford proceeded to shoot a season-best 28-of-34 (.824) at the line in the win vs. USC...Sophomore forward Josh Childress posted his sixth double-double of the season with 14 points and a career-high 15 rebounds against USC... Childress has scored in double figures in each of the last five games, averaging 16.2 points.

UCLA - With the loss at Cal, the Bruins have now dropped six games in a row for the first time in 55 years. The last six-game losing streak came during the 1947-48 season, one year before John Wooden took over as coach at UCLA... In a league besieged by ankle injuries, another player was added to the injury list when sophomore forward Andre Patterson rolled his left ankle at Stanford. He missed the California game and is questionable this week...With 36 points over the weekend, senior forward Jason Kapono moved up to fourth on UCLA's all-time scoring list with 1,861 career points...Sophomore forward Dijon Thompson has scored in double figures in six of seven Pac-10 games this season, averaging 12.4 points per Pac-10 contest.

USC - The Trojans have matched California with the most 20-point performances in Conference play with eight (Errick Craven 4, Desmon Farmer 4)...USC has forced at least 10 turnovers in 42 consecutive games. The Trojans are third in the league with a +2.40 turnover margin... Sophomore guard Errick Craven needs five steals to reach 100 steals for his career. With eight more steals, he'll crack USC's career top 10 list...USC has a seven-game home court winning streak over Oregon State. In fact, USC has won 10 of the last 13 meetings...Excluding last year's matchup in the Pac-10 tournament, eight of the last 11 games between USC and Oregon have been decided by four or fewer points. The other three were decided by five, seven (in overtime) and eight points.

WASHINGTON - It took freshman guard Nate Robinson very little time to adjust from the gridiron to the hardwood. In eight Pac-10 contests, Robinson is averaging 10.6 points per game...Sophomore guard Will Conroy has 30 steals this season, averaging 1.76 steals per game. No Washington player had more than 27 steals all of last season. Conroy is also among the league leaders in assists, ranking fifth with 4.29 assists per game...As a team, the Huskies are fourth in the Pac-10 in steals with 7.18 per game. That's up significantly from the previous year's 5.6 steals per game average...The Huskies have won the last eight meetings with Washington State in Seatte.

WASHINGTON STATE - Senior guard Marcus Moore is out for the season after having surgery to remove bone chips from his ankle...Due to the rash of injuries in Pullman, coach Paul Graham has started five different lineups in eight Pac-10 contests...Freshman guard Randy Green scored a career high 12 points in the loss at Oregon. He entered the game with a total of seven points scored all season...Senior guard Jerry McNair may have found his shooting touch as he tallied double digits for the first time this season, scoring 11 points at Oregon - thanks in part to 3-of-5 shooting from three-point range. In six previous games, McNair was shooting 5-of-26 (.192) from beyond the arc.
