Tobias Announces Spring Schedule

Feb. 3, 2003

PULLMAN, Wash. --- Head Coach Dan Tobias announced the Washington State soccer team's spring 2003 schedule Thursday, which will feature four events, including the Fifth Annual Seven-A-Side Classic in Pullman.

'We feel we have put together a very competitive spring schedule that will give us an opportunity to build on last season's success,' Tobias said.

The program is coming off an 11-7-2 record in 2002 and its second trip to the NCAA Tournament in three years. The Cougars will return nine of their top 10 scorers next season and the core of a defense that surrendered just 22 goals in 20 matches.

WSU will begin the off-season schedule in Eugene, Ore., March 1 with a match against the Canadian Under-19 National Team. That contest will not count against the NCAA's mandate of five spring competition dates. The slate also includes the Nike World Tournament and Second Annual Mom's Weekend Roundup in April. The Fifth Annual Seven-A-Side Classic, which will include around 36 teams this year, marks the end of spring action.
