Pac-10 Notes

ARIZONA - Arizona improved to 5-0 this season against ranked teams with its 95-80 win over No. 20 California, which improved Lute Olson's record at Arizona against ranked opponents to 90-57 (.612)...Senior guard Jason Gardner passed out seven assists against California and committed zero turnovers in 36 minutes played. It marked the 10th time in Gardner's career that he has played at least 30 minutes and committed zero turnovers....Senior forward Luke Walton collected six assists in just 13 minutes against California to surpass the 500-assist plateau in his career. Walton now has 504 career assists (4.4 apg). He is the sixth player in Arizona history to register 500 career assists...With 998 career points, Walton will become the 32nd Wildcat to reach 1,000 points...In Saturday's 15-point win, Arizona's bench outscored California's 35-15. On the season, the Arizona bench averages 29.4 points per game...Sophomore center Channing Frye recorded his second double-double of the season (eight career) with 12 points and 12 rebounds against California...Sophomore guard Salim Stoudamire's accuracy continues to improve, as he is shooting 53.3 percent (40-of-75) from the field over his last eight games, including 47.9 percent (23-of-48) from three-point range.

ARIZONA STATE - The Sun Devils are one win away from matching last year's victory total of 14...ASU has a winning record in the first half of Pac-10 play for the first time since the Sweet Sixteen team of 1995 was 6-3 en route to a 12-6 league mark...Ike Diogu's 14 boards vs. Stanford matched the second-best outing by an ASU freshman and the most by a freshman since Mario Bennett had 17 vs. Oregon on Feb. 1, 1992 to set the ASU freshman record...ASU is allowing just 65.8 points per game, its best effort since the 1984 team gave up 65.2 points per game...ASU is 74-of-99 (.747) from the free throw line in the past four games...Ike Diogu's 176 free throw attempts (8.8 per game) is on pace to break the ASU season mark of 234 (7.1 per game) set by Mario Bennett in 1994-95. If he keeps this pace, he would crack the Pac-10 single-season list and would register the most free throws since USC's Harold Miner attempted 286 in 1991-92. He has made more free throws (129) this year than any other Pac-10 player has attempted.

CALIFORNIA - Senior forward Joe Shipp brought his career scoring total to 1,417 points, placing him eighth on Cal's all-time scoring list...Senior forward Brian Wethers has joined Shipp in the 1,000 point club over the weekend and now has 1,027 career points...Junior guard A.J. Diggs pushed his career steals total to 103 with five thefts during the desert road swing...The Bears continue play on the road this week at Oregon. It's the first time the Bears have played four consecutive league games on the road since 1987...Cal entered last week's play fourth in the league in free throw percentage (.686), but struggled from the line (19-of-39, .487) in the two road losses in Arizona...The trio of Amit Tamer, Shipp and Wethers scored 110 of the team's 150 points last week. That's 73.3 percent of the team's scoring output. Only twice this season have all three not scored in double digits in the same game (Cleveland State, Howard)...The Bears have won the last seven meetings with Oregon State at Gill Coliseum. Have won nine straight in the series and 14 of the last 15 contests.

OREGON - Junior guard Luke Ridnour's now made 37 consecutive free throws -- that's a school record for one season, and three off the all-time school mark of 40, set by John Greig over the 1980-81 and 1981-82 seasons...Ridnour is one of 30 Wooden Award midseason candidates, joining Arizona's Jason Gardner and Luke Walton...He became just the third Duck to surpass 400 career assists during the UCLA game (Ron Lee and Kenya Wilkins are the other two), and now has 415...Oregon's 15-5 record through 20 games is identical to last season's mark...Junior forward Luke Jackson came back from injury to score a season-high 27 points at UCLA...Oregon got 33 points from the 4-5 positions in the win over UCLA, but only eight points from the same spots in the loss to USC. So Oregon is now 15-0 when the big men score at least 22 points a game and 0-5 when below that mark...Freshman Ian Crosswhite had career highs at UCLA for his first double-double (22 points/12 rebounds)...The next Duck win will give coach Ernie Kent his 200th career victory.

OREGON STATE - With wins at USC and UCLA, Oregon State swept the LA road swing for the first time since 1988...The four game winning streak in Pac-10 play is OSU's longest since opening the 1993 season with five straight league victories...The last time the Beavers posted four league wins by the halfway point of league competition was during the 1999 season when they were 5-4...Senior forward Philip Ricci posted his league-leading eighth double-double (14th career) with 26 points and 14 rebounds in the win at UCLA. He's posted five double-doubles over the last six games and now leads the league in rebounding (9.1 rpg)...Freshman guard Chris Stephens scored a career-high 17 points after nailing 5-of-6 three-pointers against USC.

STANFORD - With the victory at Arizona Thursday, Stanford ran its McKale Center winning streak to three games. Only three other schools have longer streaks in McKale Center (OSU and UCLA - 5, ASU - 4), and no team has won more than two straight in Tucson since UCLA's five-game streak ended in 1984...Junior guard Matt Lottich had the hot hand in desert, scoring a career-high 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting, including 5-of-8 from beyond the arc in the win over Arizona. He's averaging 20.0 points over the last three games...Senior guard Julius Barnes posted the first double-double of his career with 14 points and a career-high 10 assists at Arizona...Sophomore forward Josh Childress has four double-doubles over the last six games, averaging 15.3 points and 9.8 rebounds during that span.

UCLA - UCLA dropped it's eighth game in a row, the last time that happened was the first eight games of the 1940-41 season. That year, the Bruins led by Jackie Robinson, finished 6-20 that season under Wilbur Johns...Freshman center Ryan Hollins started both games against the Oregon schools. He got into early foul trouble vs. OSU, but against Oregon, he played a career high 34 minutes, posting career high totals in points (11), rebounds (11) and blocked shots (7)...Senior forward Jason Kapono led the Bruins in scoring in both games vs. the Oregon schools with 21 vs. Oregon and 18 vs. Oregon State. His career point total stands at 1,900 - 18th on the Pac-10's career list......1984 was the only other time UCLA has been swept by the Oregon schools in Pauley Pavilion.

USC - Sophomore guard Errick Craven posted his first double-double of the season with 18 points and 10 rebounds in the win over Oregon, and nearly made it a triple-double as he collected a career-high eight steals. He pushed his career steals total to 104 - good for 10th on USC's career chart...Sophomore forward Gregg Guenther Jr. earned his first start of the season and collected career highs in points (16) and rebounds (6) in the win over Oregon...USC hosts UCLA this week. The Trojans beat UCLA 80-75 in Pauley on Jan. 8 and are looking to sweep the series for the first time since 1992...The Trojans won the rebound battle in back-to-back games against the Oregon schools, snapping a six-game streak in which they were outrebounded by the opposition.

WASHINGTON - With the win over Washington State, the Huskies have won the last nine meetings with the Cougars in Seattle...Junior guard Doug Wrenn has scored in double figures in each of the last 10 games...With a 3-2 home mark in Pac-10 play, the Huskies have held the opposition to 127-of-302 shooting (.420) in Bank of America Arena. However, on the road in league play, the opponents are shooting 124-of-243 (.510)...The Huskies host No. 2 Arizona Thursday. It's the first time Washington has hosted a No. 2 ranked team since defeating No. 2 UCLA 78-73 on Feb. 12, 1977. The Huskies are 2-2 all-time against No. 2 teams in Seattle, but 0-11 against No. 2 teams on the road.

WASHINGTON STATE - Coach Paul Graham welcomed the return of junior forward Milton Riley and junior center Ezenwa Ukeagu for the Washington game. Riley, who has battle a back injury, scored 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds against the Huskies. Ukeaugu, in his first action since suffering acute appendicitis on Jan. 14, scored four points and also hauled in seven rebounds ...Sophomore guard Thomas Kelati leads the Pac-10 in three point field goal percentate (47-of-99, .475). He has connected on 11-of-22 over the past four games...Senior guard/forward Cedrick Hughey has started the last eight games and has averaged 9.8 points and 6.9 rebounds in that span.
