UA Men's Tennis Moves to No. 48

Feb. 5, 2003

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Arizona men's tennis team moved up 14 spots this week in the latest Omni Hotel collegiate rankings, administered by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The Wildcats who were previously ranked No. 62, moved to No. 48 after a successful weekend in San Diego.

Arizona traveled to San Diego for a pair of matches against ranked opponents San Diego and San Diego State. The two schools were ranked No. 48 and 28, respectively. The Wildcats defeated both schools by scores of 4-3. In each match, Arizona lost the doubles point but rode the strength of their singles play to win the matches.

Currently for the Wildcats, freshmen Daniel Andrus and Roger Matalonga, and sophomore Colin O'Grady are undefeated in singles play. The doubles team of O'Grady and Matalonga won both matches during its time in San Diego.

The Wildcats will be in action again on Saturday, Feb. 5, when they host BYU at noon at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center.
