Wrestling Roughs Up the Roadrunners

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Oregon wrestling team broke a four-meet losing streak by defeating Cal State Bakersfield, 26-16, Wednesday afternoon. The Ducks (6-8, 5-2) scored two falls, two major decisions and two more decisions to clinch the victory.
The dual began at 133, with the Roadrunners winning by major decision to take an early 4-0 lead. The Ducks won the next three matches - one by fall, one by major decision and one by decision - to take control of the overall score, 13-4.
With the overall score 17-10 entering his match, Oregon's Elias Soto put the dual out of reach with a pin at 197. It was Soto's second fall of the season and first at 197. Neil Phillips won at heavyweight, 2-1, to score the final three points for the Ducks.
Casey Hunt pinned his opponent at 141 at the 1:30 mark for his fifth fall of the season. No. 11-ranked Shane Webster (174) and Tony Overstake (149) were the Ducks to score the major decisions, while Branson Phillips (157) won by decision for his second straight victory at the weight class.
Oregon will wrestle again tonight at Cal Poly. The dual is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
