No. 2 Arizona Softball Defeats Iowa State and Wisconsin

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Arizona softball team finished the second day of the Fiesta Bowl Tournament in Phoenix with an 11-2 win over Iowa State and a 1-0 win over Wisconsin.

Iowa State took an early lead in the first game when senior Erica Martinez hit a two-run home run off Arizona's freshman pitcher Leslie Wolfe. Wolfe pitched two innings for the Cats before being relieved by junior pitcher Wendy Allen. Allen pitched three innings, with 3 strikeouts and one walk, improving to 4-0.

Arizona senior Lovie Jung led the way for the Cats, hitting three home runs in the game.

In the second game versus Wisconsin, sophomore Jackie Coburn scored the only run of the game when she hit a home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to put the Cats up 1-0.

Freshman pitcher Alicia Hollowell pitched seven innings and had her first no-hitter of the season, striking out 12 and improving to 5-0 on the season.

Arizona will conclude the Fiesta Bowl Tournament when they face Mississippi State at 10 p.m. at the Rose Mofford Sports Complex.
