Stanford Heads To Hawaii To Open Spring Season: The Stanford men's golf team is back on the golf course after winter break and open the season at the Taylor Made Intercollegiate, February 12-14, at the Waikaloa King's Course (par 72), in Kona, Hawaii.

Tournament Participants: Air Force, Arizona State, Baylor, Fresno State, Georgia Tech, Lamar, Nagoya (Japan), Oregon State, Pepperdine, Stanford, Texas A&M, TCU, Texas Tech, Arkansas, UCLA, Hawaii-Hilo, Hawaii-Manoa, Houston, Kansas, Mississippi, Nevada-Reno, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, USC and Washington.

Competing For The Cardinal: Stanford will bring five golfers to the Taylor Made Intercollegiate - Jim Seki, Ron Won, George Downing, Kevin Blue and Pat Phillips.

Last Year: The Stanford men's golf team finished play in 11th place with a three round total of 887 (285-288-314) in The Taylor Made Intercollegiate at the Waikoloa Golf Course. Georgia Tech won the tournament (860) while Oklahoma took second (868). Blake Mastalir tied for 37th with a three-round total of 222. Kevin Blue tied for 50th (224) while teammate Jim Seki tied for 68th (227) overall. Pat Phillips tied for 87th (230).

Last Time Out: TThe Stanford men's golf team shot rounds of 300 and 301 on the final day of competition at The Prestige at PGA West on the par 72, 6,841-yard La Quinta Resort Mountain Course to finish 11th in the team standings with an 899. Jim Seki (212) posted his third top five finish on the season, placing fourth individually. Ron Won carded rounds of 74 and 76 today to finish tied for 45th with a 226. Teammate Del de Windt tied for 62nd (72-78-81--231) while Kyle Gentry finished one stroke back at 232 (81-79-72) to tie for 64th. George Downing placed 85th with a 241 (81-77-83).

Up Next: Stanford is next in action, March 3-4 at the Cleveland Golf Classic in Los Angeles, Calif.

Head Coach Jeff Mitchell: A former professional golfer on the PGA Tour and director of golf at Texas Tech, Jeff Mitchell begins his third year as the head men's golf coach at Stanford. Prior to coming to The Farm, Mitchell spent 10 years as the head women's golf coach at Texas Tech, an in 1998, he became the golf director for both the men's and women's programs.
