Golden Bear Track and Field Alumni Update

The current California Track and Field team wishes to recognize the outstanding achievements and performances of those that also once competed at Edwards Stadium. In addition to updated news on the 2003 team, check, for information on your favorite former Golden Bears.

Recently, Bolota Asmerom (Cal 2000) running for NIKE, won the 3,000m at the Husky Indoor Invitational, with a PR 7:49.68. This is the fastest indoor time in the world, and stands as the sixth fastest overall 3,000m time in the world.

Magdalena Lewy (Cal 1987) will represent the US in Ekiden Relays in Yokohoma, Japan on Feb. 23. Lewy will run the 10,000m leg in her first international competition since becoming a United States citizen on September 11, 2002. Lewy is a volunteer assistant coach for the Golden Bears track and cross country team.
