Cal's Allen Craig Named Pac-10 Baseball Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, CA - California freshman shortstop Allen Craig has been selected as the Pac-10 Baseball Player of the Week for Feb. 4-10, it was announced Tuesday by Pac-10 Commissioner Tom Hansen.

Last week in the Bears' victory at San Francisco and three-game sweep of Loyola Marymount, Craig was 7-for-17 (.417) with two doubles, a grand slam home run and five RBI. In the Bears' sweep of LMU at Evans Diamond, he was 6-for-14 with two doubles and had a key grand slam home run that snapped a 6-6 tie and helped Cal to an 11-6 win Saturday over the Lions.

Craig has hit safely in all seven games he has played in this season, and hit a home run in his first collegiate at-bat Jan. 31 against UNLV. He is currently batting .423 with two doubles, two home runs and seven RBI.

The Bears are currently 5-2 and host San Jose State today (Feb. 11) at 2 p.m. at Evans Diamond. Cal then travels to the Express College Classic in Round Rock, Tex. The Bears face Texas-Pan American Feb. 14, Southwest Texas State Feb. 15 and Nebraska Feb. 16.
