Husky Men's Golfer Open Spring in Hawaii

Seattle - The 25th-ranked Washington men's golf team opens its spring schedule this week at the 13th annual Taylor Made/Waikoloa Intercollegiate tournament Feb. 12-14. This year's 54-hole event will be played on the par-72, 6,594-yard Waikoloa Resort Kings' Golf Course.
In addition to the Huskies, the 26-team field includes Air Force, Arizona State, Arkansas, Baylor, Fresno State, Georgia Tech, Hawaii-Hilo, Hawaii, Houston, Kansas, Lamar, Mississippi, Nagoya (Japan), Nevada-Reno, Oklahoma, Oregon, Oregon State, Pepperdine, Rhode Island, Southern California, Stanford, Texas A&M, Texas Christian, Texas Tech and UCLA.
Last year Washington finished sixth at the event with a 13-over score of 877. Conner Robbins tied for fourth at 2-under 214 to lead the Huskies. Georgia Tech won the event at 860, led by medalist Troy Matteson, who shot 210.
The Huskies were led last fall by junior All-American Brock Mackenzie who posted a stroke average of 71.5 over 15 rounds. Mackenzie is ranked 25th in this week's Golfweek individual standings.
