No. 9 Oregon State Defeats Cal in PAC-10 Meet

Corvallis, Oregon - The California Golden Bears (7-3, 0-3) dropped a regular season meet to host Oregon State today at Gill Coliseum. The Beavers led with a 197.025 mark, which surpassed the Bear's 194.500. Cal was paced by Freshman Monique Chang and Sophomore My-Lan Dodd, who both recorded first place finishes on an individual event.
The Bears began the competition on the uneven bars where Dodd placed second with a 9.85 mark. On the second rotation, vault, Chang proudly claimed first with a 9.9 score. Junior Janet McKnight placed fifth for the Bears with a solid 9.8 performance.
The third rotation brought the Bears to floor where Dodd and Chang placed first (9.9) and fourth (9.85), respectively. Cal wrapped up the meet with competition on the balance beam. Sophomore Adrienne Garcia led the Bears with a 9.75 mark.
In the all-around, Dodd and Freshman Britani Pittullo both finished with a 38.8 score with was good for a third place finish.
The Bears return home next week to host Washington and Sacramento State on Friday, February 22, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. at Haas Pavilion.
