WSU Highlights from McDonald's II Open Track Meet

MOSCOW, Idaho -- Many of Washington State's track and field team members saw improved seasonal marks while competed in the McDonald's II Open Indoor Track Meet, Saturday, at the Kibbie Dome on the Idaho campus.

Nicole Hatcher, Monique Jessie, and Blessing Ufodiama were WSU winners in women's events. Hatcher won the 200m dash in a time of 25.15 with Cougar teammate Monique Jessie second in 25.17. Jessie won the 400m dash in a time of 56.32. Ufodiama took first in the triple jump with a leap of 12.48m/40-11 1/2, and finished third in the long jump (5.42m/17-9 1/2).

Shannon Rance took third in the shot put (13.63m/44-8 3/4) and fourth in the discus (43.75m/143-6) while Brittany Hinchcliffe placed third in the weight throw (17.15m/56-3 1/4).

Martin Boston and Tim Gehring were Cougar winners in the men's events. Boston won the long jump with a PR of 7.31m/23-11 3/4. Gehring won the shot put with a distance of 17.11m/56-1 3/4.

Bennie Chatman finished second in the 60m dash while Dan Brink was sixth but improved to second place in the 200m dash. Other Cougars in the 200m placings included Anthony Buchanan third and James McSwain fourth.

Next week the Cougar men's and women's teams will be in Boise, Idaho, for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Indoor Track and Field Championships.
