ASU's Diogu Named Pac-10 Men's Basketball Player Of The Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - ARIZONA STATE freshman forward Ike Diogu has been named the Pacific-10 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for February 10 - February 16, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Diogu, from Garland, Tex., averaged 26 points, 6 rebounds , and one block per game, while shooting 66% from the floor (20-30) in a home sweep of the L.A. schools. Versus USC, Diogu put in 26 points, while shooting a tremendous 84.6% from the floor (11-of-13). He also tacked on five rebounds and two blocks in the game. Against UCLA, Diogu put together another 26-point performance, going 9-for-17 from the field (52.9%), and sinking all eight of his free-throw attempts. For the week he shot 66% from the field (20-of-30) and was 75% from the line (12-of-16). Diogu is the first ASU freshman to post back-to-back games of 25 or more points.
Arizona State (17-7, 9-4 in Pac-10) won big at home versus USC, 108-78 and UCLA , 85-69 last week. Up next, it hosts in-state rival Arizona.
It is the first weekly award for Diogu, the 19th all-time honor for the Sun Devils.
