Men's Golf Starts Spring at Inland Collegiate

PULLMAN, Wash. - What's Happening This Week: WSU men's golf will travel to Lewiston, Idaho Feb. 19 to face five Palouse region teams at the 2003 Inland Collegiate Challenge...University of Idaho will host the event at the Lewiston Country Club Golf Course....WSU is four-time defending champion.

Field: The 5-team field will consist of Walla Walla, Idaho, Lewis-Clark, Gonzaga and Washington State.

Head Coach Walt Williams On The Inland Collegiate: 'The men can really make a name for themselves this year and have a tremendous impact at this tournament and every other one. Chad Carlson has stepped it up for this spring and we expect him to continue to improve. Dustin White shot every qualifying round in the 60s, and the whole team really played well.'

Cougars Fierce in the Fall: White capped off the fall season with a final round 67 and his second career collegiate victory at the Turtle Bay Intercollegiate in Hawaii...White finished the fall leading the team with a 71.2 scoring average, the lowest of his career.... Ryan Camp fired a school record tying 7-under par 65 in the second round of the Badger Invitational...Camp followed that up with a ninth place finish at the Vandal Classic. Woods used a second round 69 to finish in 11th at the Vandal...Camp and Isaac Woods also finished out the fall on a high note with each recording a Top 25 finish at the Turtle Bay Intercollegiate.

Clubs in the Bag: After impressive rounds of qualifying, Woods, White, Camp, Ryan Ressa, and Chad Carlson will play for the team point totals. Paul Knue, Alex Dunlop, Andy Barnes, and Ben Bryson will compete as individuals.

Marking the Scorecard: WSU ranks 78th as a team according to the first Golfweek/Sagarin performance index of the fall...Cougars are ranked 75th in the Div. I head-to-head rankings on

White Hot: Dustin White ranks 123rd in the nation according to the Golfweek/Sagarin performance index...White is ranked 84th towards the Golfstat Cup, an award given to the best male golf performers by has been selected as one of the Top 50 male players to watch during the 2002-03 season byGolfWorld magazine in its Sept. 6 issue...White is ranked 9th in subpar strokes per round at 4.39, and 9th in greens in regulation percentage at .747, according to
