No. 44 Cougars Travel To Oregon

THIS WEEK: The No. 44 Washington State women's tennis team (5-1) will head to Eugene to take on the No. 39 Oregon Ducks Sunday.

THE SERIES: Washington State has won 15 of 31 matches against the Ducks, including two wins last season. WSU defeated the Ducks 6-1 (Feb. 24) and then closed out the regular season with a 4-3 win over then No. 44 Oregon (April 21).

HOT COUGS: Washington State has won five matches in a row. The Cougars have defeated Penn State (2/1), Hawaii (2/7), Long Beach State (2/8), New Mexico (2/15) and Boise State (2/16) after opening the spring season with a loss at Alabama (1/31).

TOUGH SCHEDULE: WSU has 14 more matches scheduled this season, and all but one (San Diego- 3/9) will be against teams ranked in the ITA's National Rankings.

COUGARS IN THE RANKINGS: The Cougars are anchored by junior Lorena Arias, ranked No. 77 by the ITA. Arias joins with doubles teammate Chris Martinez to form the No. 45 doubles team in the nation.

NEXT WEEK: The Cougars next competition will be home matches as WSU hosts No. 60 Brigham Young University (Friday Feb. 28 at 1 p.m.) and the No. 22 University of Washington (Sunday March 2 at noon).
