Tone, Women's Golf Third Heading Into Final Round at Wildcat Invite

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Arizona State women's golf team dropped two spots to third place after shooting a 21-over 305 on Tuesday in the second round of the 2003 Wildcat Invitational at the par 71, 6,238-yard Arizona National Golf Club at Sabino Springs.

ASU, which had led the tournament after carding a season-best 290 after the first day, heads into Wednesday's final round looking for the team's second top five finish of the year. With a two-round total of 27-over 595, the Sun Devils trail tournament leader Pepperdine (286) by nine strokes. USC moved up six spots to second place at 594 after turning the best round of the day on Tuesday at two-over 286, followed by ASU (595), Tennessee (602), UCLA (604) and Vanderbilt (604).

Sophomore Erin Tone continues to lead the Sun Devil effort and is in third place heading into the final round of play with a two-day total of 145 (68-77). After carding a career-best 68 on Monday to lead the field, Tone shot a six-over 77 on Tuesday and stands three strokes behind Arizona's Erica Blasberg and Pepperdine's Caroline Llano (142) for the tournament title.

Freshman Alissa Kuczka is tied for 10th at six-over 148 (72-76) followed by senior Ga�lle Truet who moved up 15 spots after carding a two-over 73 on Tuesday for a two-day total of 149 (76-73). Sophomore Josefin Gustafsson is tied for 42nd (74-80=154), while senior Balir O'Neal is tied for 61st at 16-over 158 (74-84) heading into Wednesday's final round.

Sophomore Jamie Michaud (81-79) and junior Lisa Desimone (80-80), who are both playing as individuals, are each tied for 69th at 18-over 160.

The Wildcat Invitational continues wraps up Wednesday with play beginning with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. Mountain Standard Time.
