Bruin Swimming Retains Lead at Pac-10 Championships

Federal Way, WA - After the second day of competition (Friday, February 28) at the Pac-10 Championships, held in Federal Way, WA, the Bruins are holding onto the lead with 930.5 points. The Stanford Cardinal remain in second place with 921 points, followed by USC (third place, 728 points). Arizona is fourth (675), Cal is fifth (662), Arizona State is sixth (519), Washington is seventh (393.5), Oregon State is eighth (338) and Washington State is ninth (207).

The top Bruin performers on Friday were Brooke Winkler, who was fourth in the 400 IM in 4:18.04, IN the 100 Fly, Kim Vandenberg was fourth (53.49) and Kristen Lewis was sixth (54.14). Malin Svahnstrom was fourth in the 200 Free (1:48.56) and Sara Platzer was eighth (1:51.68). In the 100 Breast, Leslie Hovsepian was ninth (1:02.89). Taylor Spivey took seventh in the 100 Back in 55.64 and Naoko Watanabe was ninth (55.63). And, the 800 Free Relay team of Vandenberg, Jackie Lobdell, Platzer and Svahnstrom finished fourth in 7:18.08.

In the three-meter diving, Regan Gosnell placed fifth with 488.15 points and Paige Thompson was ninth with 456.20 points.

The Pac-10 Championships will conclude Saturday, March 1.
