Men's Golf Heads to Cleveland Golf Classic

EUGENE, Ore. - The Oregon men's golf team will square off against 11 of the top 45 teams in the nation Monday and Tuesday at the Cleveland Golf Classic. Teams will play two rounds Monday and one Tuesday at the 6,815-yard, par-71 North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village, Calif.

Of the 17 teams in the field, 11 are ranked in the latest Golfweek top 25, including No. 8 UCLA, No. 16 Pepperdine, No. 20 Washington and No. 25 Tennessee. Others in the field include Arizona State (33), Brigham Young (45), California (39), UC Santa Barbara, Fresno State (41), Houston, Ohio State, Oklahoma (30), Oregon, Oregon State, San Diego State (36), Stanford and USC (29).

'It seems we see a strong field everywhere we go,' said coach Steve Nosler of his team's third tournament of the spring. 'But we had some very competitive qualifiers and will be sending a pretty experienced group out there this week.'

The Ducks will compete seniors John Ellis and Chris Carnahan (Albany, Ore.), juniors Jimmy White (Eugene, Ore.) and Mike Sica and freshman Gregg LaVoie at the Cleveland Golf Classic.
