Arizona's Stoudamire Named Pac-10 Men's Basketball Player Of The Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - ARIZONA sophomore guard Salim Stoudamire has been named the Pacific-10 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for February 24 - March 2, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Stoudamire, from Portland, Ore., led Arizona to a road sweep of the Bay Area schools for the fourth consecutive season by averaging a team-best 19 points and two rebounds in two wins last week. He connected on 14-of-24 field goal attempts (.583), including 7-of-12 (.583) from three-point land, along with a pair of assists. In Thursday's win at California, Stoudamire scored a game-high 20 points on 7-of-9 shooting, including 6-of-8 from behind the arc, in 29 minutes of action. He followed that up with a team-high 18 points in a win at Stanford, in which he scored 12 of his 18 points in the second half to go with three rebounds and an assist in 38 minutes.
No. 1 ranked-Arizona (23-2, 15-1 in Pac-10) won 88-75 at No. 23 California and 72-69 at No. 19 Stanford Up next, the Wildcats close out the regular season hosting Oregon State and Oregon.
It is the first weekly award for Stoudamire, the 59th all-time honor for the Wildcats.
