No. 18 Trojans Even Record With 7-2 Win Over UNLV

LOS ANGELES - Freshman Jeff Clement went 2-for-3 with a double, home run and three RBI Tuesday and the No. 18 USC Trojans defeated the UNLV Rebels, 7-2, in non-conference action at Dedeaux Field. Clement now leads the team in home runs (eight) and RBI (17) on the season.
Clement hit a two-run homer to right off UNLV starter Adam Lesko and added an RBI double in the fifth.
USC improved to 8-8 overall while UNLV fell to 10-6 on the season.
Fraser Dizard (2-1) bounced back from Saturday's performance at Stanford, where he lasted only 1/3 of an inning, with seven strong innings against the Rebels. Dizard allowed one unearned run on six hits with no walks and six strikeouts. Lesko (0-1) took the loss for UNLV, going 4 2/3 innings and allowing six runs on nine hits with no walks and seven strikeouts.
The Trojans scored four runs in the fifth. After an RBI single by Travis McAndrews, Clement hit his double followed by an RBI double by David Gordon and RBI single by Michael Moon. Moon added a solo shot in the eighth with his second home run of the season.
USC will travel to UCLA for a non-conference series, beginning on Friday (March 7) at 5 p.m. Game times for Saturday (March 8) and Sunday (March 9) are 1 p.m. with Saturday's game being broadcast on FOX Sports Net 2. All three games will also be broadcast live on usctrojans.com.
