Cardinal Gets 10th Win Of Season, Beats Arizona

Stanford, Calif. - The third-ranked Stanford women's tennis team won its eighth consecutive match and 10th overall in a 6-1 defeat over No. 26 Arizona on Saturday afternoon at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium. The Cardinal improve to 10-1, while the Wildcats fall to 4-5.

Stanford swept the doubles competition to jump out to a 1-0 lead. At No. 1 doubles, the Cardinal's top-ranked team of Lauren Barnikow (Woodbridge, NJ) and Erin Burdette (Jackson, GA) recorded an 8-5 over Arizona's Dianne Hollands and Emilie Scribot to remain unbeaten in Pac-10 play.

Burdette, Alice Barnes (Cambridge, UK), Emilia Anderson (Cincinnati, OH) and Story Tweedie-Yates (Redmond, WA) all tallied straight set victories in singles play. Amber Liu (La Mesa, CA) survived a tough match with Maja Mlakar, 6-7(4), 7-5, 1-0(6) at No. 1 singles.

Arizona picked up a point at No. 2 when 46th-ranked Scribot upset Stanford's Barnikow 6-1, 6-4.

The Cardinal will have this week off to prepare for final exams and will next compete on Tuesday, March 25 at UNLV.
