Bruins Head to NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships

The 2003 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, held at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, AR, will begin Friday, March 14, and conclude Saturday, March 15. Head men's coach Art Venegas will have three athletes representing the Bruin men.

Representing the Bruin men at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships are senior Scott Wiegand (Arcadia, CA/Arcadia HS), junior Dan Ames (Lakeside, CA/El Capitan HS) and sophomore Ben Aragon (Santee, CA/West Hills HS).

Competing in the shot put will be Wiegand and Ames. Wiegand is ranked No. 4 on the NCAA list at 65-3.25 (19.89m). Ames is ranked No. 6 on the NCAA list at 64-8.75 (19.73m). Ames will also compete in the 35-lb. weight throw. He is ranked No. 4 at 70-1.75 (21.38m).

Aragon ran a NCAA automatic qualifying time in the mile of 4:00.38 on Saturday, March 8, at the Last Chance Meet in Seattle, WA. He enters with the No. 14 time on the NCAA list.
