Cougar Tennis Hosts Oregon

THIS WEEK: The No 41 Washington State women's tennis team hosts Pacific-10 foe Oregon Sunday in Lewiston, Idaho. The Ducks, ranked No. 36 by the ITA, are the first of eight conference opponents for the Cougars.

THE SERIES: Washington State has won 15 of 32 matches against the Ducks, including two victories over Oregon last season WSU won 6-1 Feb. 24 against then-No. 59 Oregon and won 4-3 April 21 against the No. 49 Ducks.

HOT COUGS: Washington State has won three matches against ITA ranked opponents. The Cougars have defeated No. 65 New Mexico (Feb. 15), No. 58 Boise State (Feb. 16) and No. 49 BYU (Feb. 28) this season.

TOUGH SCHEDULE: WSU has nine more matches scheduled this season, and all nine will be against teams ranked in the ITA's Top 40 National Rankings.

COUGARS IN THE RANKINGS: The Cougars are anchored by junior Lorena Arias, ranked No. 77 in the ITA's preseason rankings. Arias joins with doubles teammate Chris Martinez to form the preseason No. 45 doubles team in the nation.

NEXT WEEK: The Cougars next competition will be a trip to the Bay Area Pac-10 schools. WSU travels to No. 3 Stanford March 28 and No. 4 California March 29. Both matches start at noon.
