Ike Diogu Named USBWA All-District 9 Selection

March 12, 2003

Arizona State's Ike Diogu has been named a District 9 United States Basketball Writer's Association selection. The District is made up of schools in Arizona, California, Oregon, Washington and Hawaii. Earlier this week Diogu was named the Pac-10 Freshman of the Year and also was an All-Pac-10 selection.

Diogu is one of only three players in the Pac-10 Conference who have scored in double digits in every game this season. He is averaging 19.7 points and 9.5 rebounds in the last 11 games and he has 10 20-point games. The Garland, Texas, native is one of only two players in the conference ranked in the top five in scoring (18.8 ppg) and rebounding (7.6 rpg) for the year.

Diogu is shooting 60.9 percent from the field this season, good for second in the Pac-10. His 230 appearances at the free throw line lead the Pac-10, and he shoots 73.9 percent from the charity stripe.
