Ashlee Rosenthal Finishes Second In One-Meter At NCAA Zone E Meet

Oklahoma City, Okla. - Stanford's Ashlee Rosenthal finished second in the women's one-meter competition on the second day of the 2003 NCAA Zone E Diving Meet at the Oklahoma City Community College Pool. Rosenthal, who automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships by finishing third in the three-meter event on Thursday, scored a career-high 548.00 points. USC's Blythe Hartley, also the winner in Thursday's one-meter competition, captured her second event in as many days with 610.50 points.
The top eight women's divers at the Zone E Meet advance to the NCAA Championships to be held March 20-22 in Auburn, Alabama. The four remaining spots spots will be decided on the final day of the Zone E Meet, which concludes with the platform Saturday (11 am, CT).
Stanford's McKenze Murphy, a top candidate for one of the four remaining spots, took eighth in the one-meter with 499.15 points. Murphy had finished fourth in Thursday's three-meter with 485.05 points.
'I'm excited about the direction that Ashlee has gone during the Zone E Meet,' said Stanford head diving coach Dr. Rick Schavone. 'I think that she is also very capable of doing well at the NCAA's next week. We would also love to get at least one more diver qualified for the NCAA's on the final day of the Zone E Meet tomorrow.'
