No. 3 Softball Blanks Morehead State, 4-0

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Ashley Boek (Redding, Calif.) tossed a no-hitter versus Morehead State on Saturday as the No. 3-ranked Washington softball team (29-2-1) downed the Eagles, 4-0. The win improves the Huskies to 3-0 at the Capital Classic and ties them with California (3-0) for the lead in the tournament standings.
Washington opened the game with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning. Rita Roach (Norwalk, Calif.) reached base on an infield single and moved to second base when Jaime Clark (Tustin, Calif.) drew a walk. With two outs, Kathy Fiske (Temecula, Calif.) hit a double into right field to notch her 29th and 30th RBIs of the season.
The Huskies added another run in the second inning with a home run by Sarah Hyatt (Sedro-Woolley, Wash.) over the left field fence. It was the fifth home run of the year for Hyatt and the 45th for UW.
Washington scored their fourth and final run in the third frame when Aimee Minor (San Jacinto, Calif.) hit a sacrifice fly to left field, which scored Fiske. Fiske had reached base on a single into centerfield and moved to third on a single by Dena Tyson (Corona, Calif.) and a stolen base.
Boek's (14-1) no-hitter marked the second in her career and the 21st in Washington history. She also punched out 12 batters to tie her career-best.
The Huskies continue tournament play with a game against Utah at 12:30 p.m. today.
