CU Drops A Pair In Texas

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The No. 45th ranked Colorado women's tennis team dropped a pair of matches in the state of Texas over the weekend, falling to No. 17 Texas and No. 29 Texas A&M by identical 5-2 scores on Saturday and Sunday.

CU claimed singles points against Texas with freshman Jessica Vanderdys and junior Morgan Sall claiming wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 slots, respectively. Against the Longhorns (6-7, 6-1), Vanderdys won her sixth straight match (6-1, 3-1, ret.) and improved her singles record in the spring to 8-3 overall and impressive 6-0 at No. 5 singles. Not to be outdone, Sall kept to her winning ways against the Longhorns taking an abbreviated match at No. 6 in which her opponent retired at 4-3 in the first set.

The following day, Sall won her seven consecutive match winning a tough 6-4, 6-4 match at No. 6 against Texas A&M (10-6, 5-1 Big 12). Also winning on Sunday was sophomore Kendra Strandemo, who took a 7-6(5), 6-4 winner at No. 4 singles. Strandemo improved her No. 4 singles record to 8-1 and 11-2 overall this spring.

CU (8-5, 2-4) continues its longest road streak on the spring (four matches) by traveling to Los Angeles this Tuesday, March 25 to take on Loyola Marymount.
