Jeff Clement Named Pac-10 Player Of The Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - USC freshman catcher Jeff Clement has been named Pac-10 Baseball Player of the Week for March 17-23, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Clement, from Marshalltown, Iowa, went 7-for-16 (.438) with three home runs, a double and nine RBI, along with five walks and eight runs scored in games against San Diego and Arizona last week. He had two home runs on Fri., March 21 in a 12-2 win over the Wildcats and added another on Sat., March 22 for his Conference-leading 14th homer of the season. Clement also had a slugging percentage of 1.062 this week and needs only one more home run to become USC's first freshman ever to hit 15 or more homers in a season.

It was the second time this season that Clement has been named Player of the Week.
