CAL VISITS DAVIS, STANFORD AND FLORIDA THIS WEEK
The University of California men's and women's indoor track and field teams hit the road this week as different athletes are off to compete at several different meets. Cal's decathletes and heptathletes will visit Davis, Calif. for the mid-week UC Multi Meet, Mar. 26-27. Several other Golden Bears head to Gainsville, Fla. to compete at the Florida Relays, while the majority of the team heads to the annual Stanford Invitational, Mar. 28-29 at Stanford.

UC MULTI MEET
Two Bears from the men's team and three from the women's squad will visit Davis, Calif. Wednesday for the sixth annual UC Multi Meet. Hosted by UC Davis at the Woody Wilson Track, the annual meet is shared by UCD and Cal, as next season's compeition will be held in Berkeley. Junior Jason Gatewood and sophomore Greg Ross will compete in the decathlon, while redshirt freshman Janeshia Adams-Ginyard and junior trasnfer Brooke Meredith competes in the heptathlon. The meet draws mutli-eventers from all over the West, featuring athletes from fellow Pac-10 schools such as Stanford, UCLA, Washington State and Oregon. The meet starts at 10 a.m. Wednesday with the heptathlon (flight B), followed by flight A and the decathlon at 11:45 a.m. Thursday's meet begins at 9 a.m.

STANFORD INVITATIONAL
The majority of Cal's squad travels across the bay to compete in the annual Stanford Invitatiional. The meet is staged at the Cardinal's Cobb Track and Angell Field and is co-hosted by Palo Alto and Gunn High Schools. The two-day invitational meets the needs of both collegiate and high school athletes and features athletes from the following Pac-10 schools: Oregon, UCLA, USC, Washington and Washington State, as well as other Division I programs such as Brigham Young, Tennessee, Michigan State, Alabama and Notre Dame. Among those, Stanford's women's team is ranked No. 3 by Trackwire.com, while its men's squad is ranked No. 8. Other ranked women's teams include No. 10 UCLA and No. 13 Oregon, while on the men's side, Tennessee is ranked No. 7, Notre Dame is No. 15, UCLA and USC are both ranked No. 17 and Alabama and Washington share the 21st ranking.

FLORIDA RELAYS
Head coach Chris Huffins and several Golden Bears head down south, ready to compete at the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla. Freshmen Mary Meyman and Oasarhimen Omwanghe and junior Stephanie Cowling will compete in the 100m hurdles and the 4x100 shuttle hurdle relay. On the men's side, junior Tim Bogdanof will run in the 110m hurdles, while sophomore Toby Atawo is slated to race the 100 and 200m dashes. In the field events, redshirt freshmen Elzunia Lamb and Rhubuen Williams compete in the long jump and shot put/hammer events, respectively, while freshman Teak Wilburn tackles the high jump. The running events and several field contests are scheduled for Friday, while Saturday is reserved for additional field events and relays.

13 ATHLETES QUALIFY FOR PAC-10s AFTER FIRST MEET
Cal's opening meet last Saturday was a success, as 13 athletes met NCAA regional and Pac-10 qualifying standards. The competition, against a partial squad from Stanford and several open athletes, was the Bears' first outdoor meet of the season. UP NEXT FOR THE BEARS...
After this week's action, the Golden Bears head to Georgia Tech for the Yellow Jacket Invitational, Apr. 5. That meet marks homecoming of sorts for Cal head coach Chris Huffins. Before Huffins returned to Berkeley, he previously served an assistant coach at Georgia Tech from 2000-2002.
