Tori Nyberg Named Pac-10 Pitcher Of The Week

Walnut Creek, Calif. - Stanford senior hurler Tori Nyberg (Belmont, CA) has been named the Pacific-10 Conference Pitcher of the Week for March 17-March 23, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today. Nyberg picked up two victories over the weekend against San Diego State (3-0) and Illinois-Chicago (6-1).
In 12 innings of work, Nyberg did not allow a run and scattered five hits. She finished with 11 strikeouts, one walk and held opposing batters to a .119 average. On the season, Nyberg is 11-4 with a 1.36 ERA and 82 strikeouts.
In addition to Nyberg, Washington sophomore Kirsten Rivera was named the conference's Player of the Week.
The Cardinal will travel to Fresno State to face the Bulldogs in a doubleheader tomorrow starting at 6 p.m. Stanford will then open its conference season at home against top-ranked UCLA on Friday, March 28.
