Men's Swimmers Head To Texas To Compete In The NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships.

SEATTLE - Three members of the Washington men's swimming team prepare to compete in the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, which will take place March 27-29 in Austin, Texas. The three Husky men who have qualified for the meet, include juniors Justin Adrian (Bremerton, Wash.), Luke Ekhoff (Portland, Ore.) and Derek Rose (Forest Grove, Ore.).

Ekhoff, who placed ninth in the 200 breaststroke at the 2002 NCAA's and garnered All-America honors, will be the only Washington competitor to swim on Thursday, March 27. Ekhoff will swim the 200 individual medley, an event in which he is seeded 22nd with a time of 1:47.47.

On Friday, all three men will swim, starting with Adrian and Rose in the 100 butterfly. Adrian is seeded 12th after posting an automatic qualifying time of 47.25 at the Pac-10 Championships. Rose is seeded 32nd with a time of 48.33. Ekhoff will then swim in the 100 breaststroke, an event he is seeded 33rd in with a time of 55.12. Rose will round out day two competition for the Huskies, swimming as the 23rd seed in the 100 backstroke (48.13).

Ekhoff will swim the final event for UW on Saturday, swimming the 200 breaststroke as the ninth seed with a time of 1:56.88.
