UCLA Distance Runners Head to Stanford Invitational

Updated Stanford Invitational Results

The UCLA men's and women's distance corps, coached by Eric Peterson, will compete at the Stanford Invitational. The Stanford Invitational begins Saturday, and will end Sunday, March 30.

Stanford Invitational
Coach Eric Peterson will guide the Bruin men's and women's distance corps at the Stanford Invitational. Both the UCLA men and women will compete in events from the 400m to the 10,000m. Lena Nilsson, the 2003 NCAA Indoor 800m and 2002 NCAA Outdoor 1500m champion, will compete in the 800m. For the Bruin men, sophomore Ben Aragon, who competed at the NCAA Indoors in the mile, will run in the 5000m.

Last Weekend: Northridge Invitational
Last weekend, the Bruin men competed at the Northridge Invitational. Jon Rankin won the 800m (1:51.11), Jeremy Silverman won the hammer (183-8, 55.99m) and Jake Knight tied for first in the shot put (59-2.75, 18.05m). Freshman Brian Ruziecki, competing as an unattached athlete, tied with Knight for first in the shot put.

Upcoming Meets
UCLA will host the first annual Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational Friday and Saturday, April 4 and 5. The two-day meet will take place at Drake Stadium, located on the UCLA campus.
