Luke Ekhoff Places 42nd In The 200 IM At The NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships

AUSTIN, Texas- Washington opened the Division I Men's Swimming and Diving Championships tonight with a disappointing finish in the 200 individual medley.
Junior Ekhoff (Portland, Ore.) placed 42nd in the 200 IM (1:51.03), falling short of his 22nd seed time of 1:47.47.
Ekhoff will look to rebound Friday night when he swims in the 100 breaststroke. He is seeded 33rd in that event with a time of 55.12. Juniors Justin Adrian (Bremerton, Wash.) and Derek Rose (Forest Grove, Wash.) will also swim the 100 butterfly tomorrow. Adrian is seeded 12th after posting an automatic qualifying time of 47.25 at the Pac-10 Championships. Rose is seeded 32nd with a time of 48.33. Rose will round out day two competition for the Huskies, swimming as the 23rd seed in the 100 backstroke (48.13).
Ekhoff will swim the final event for UW on Saturday, swimming the 200 breaststroke as the ninth seed with a time of 1:56.88. Last season, he finished ninth in the event to garner All-America honors.
