Softball Defeats Oregon, 8-0

The No. 2 Arizona softball team defeated the Oregon Ducks, 8-0. Arizona opened their Pac-10 home opening weekend with a 3-0 record. Freshman pitcher Alicia Hollowell worked six innings, giving up three hits and no runs, improving to 21-2 on the season.

The Cats got on the board in the first inning, when freshman Autumn Champion scored off of an error by Oregon's right fielder, Beth Boshovich.

Senior Lovie Jung and sophomore Jackie Coburn each hit solo home runs in the third inning to put the Cats up 3-0.

Jung scored off of an error by Oregon's shortstop in the sixth inning. To end the game, senior Lisha Ribellia singled to center field to score junior Mackenzie Vandergeest from third base.

Arizona improves to 34-3 and 3-0 in the Pac-10. The Cats hit the road next weekend when they travel to Washington on April 4, and to UCLA on April 5 and 6.
