Yokers To Attend U.S. Under-21 National Team Camp
April 1, 2003
BERKELEY - California junior midfielder Kim Yokers was one of 23 players chosen to attend a U.S. under-21 women's national team camp scheduled for April 11-20 in Chula Vista, Calif. During the camp, the team will play the WUSA's San Jose CyberRays and the San Diego Spirit.
U.S. U21 head coach Chris Petrucelli has called in college standouts, with the exception of a pair of teenagers, forward Heather O'Reilly and defender Kim Bingham.
Last season, Yokers helped lead the Golden Bears to a 12-8-1 record and the second round of the NCAA College Cup. She posted five points in 2002 from one goal and three assists, including the game-winning score in Cal's 2-0 opening round triumph over Denver. The first team All-Pac-10 and second team NSCAA All-West Region selection was one of the most dominating central midfielders in the country last season.
Yokers has had several stints with the U21 national team, including travelling to Finland to compete in the 2002 Nordic Cup. She returns to campus this fall as one of nine seniors on the Cal women's soccer team.
