Series History: Washington is 6-7 all-time against Arizona in a series that dates back only to 1992, when the two teams met at the 1992 NCAA West I Regional. The Pac-10 North champion Huskies beat Southern Division champ Arizona in that game, 6-5, in front of 4,853 fans at Sancet Field. Last year, the Huskies took two of three from the 'Cats in Seattle to close out the regular season. In the opener, a 7-3 Husky win, Shawn Kohn went the distance for the win as the UW scored all of its runs in the seventh (two) and eighth (five). A Michael Done grand slam highlighted the eighth. In game two, the Huskies posted a six-run sixth in an 8-3 win. Kyle Larsen went 2-for-4 with three RBI. In the regular season finale, Arizona scored four in the seventh for a 5-2 win. Washington is 4-1 against Kansas State, including a two wins in a three-game series in Manhattan in 1993. The Huskies lost the opener in that series, 8-7, but took the next two, 10-3 and 13-10. The UW beat KSU by scores of 14-8 and 6-3 at a tournament at Texas A&M in 1991.

Coach 'K': In 10-plus seasons as the head coach of his alma mater, Ken Knutson has led the Dawgs to two Pac-10 championships, four Pac-10 Northern Division titles, two second-place finishes and four NCAA Regionals. His career overall record stands at 368-245-1 (.600). With those 368 wins, he is the second-winningest coach in UW history, trailing only Bob MacDonald (422). Before becoming the Husky head man in 1993, Knutson served as the Husky pitching coach for eight seasons. In 1985, his UW pitching staff led the nation with a 2.80 ERA. Knutson holds a 177-79-1 (.691) record in home games. He is 155-109 (.587) in conference games. Knutson has coached 37 first-team All-Pac-10 selections in 10 seasons, and has been named league coach of the year three times. A 1981 All-Pac-10 left-handed pitcher at the UW, he is joined by assistants Joe Ross, Travis Jewett, and Gregg Swenson and undergrad assistant Jeremiah Porter.

Starting pitcher Sean White won his fifth straight start in a five-inning effort while Trent Baysinger held OSU to two hits and no runs over the final four for the save. The Huskies loaded the bases in the ninth after scoring one run, but couldn't tie or win the game. Chad Boudon hit his 10th home run for the Huskies.

Outstanding In The Field: Washington is having one of its best years ever in terms of its defense. Through 31 games, the Huskies are fielding a Pac-10-leading .979 and have made only 25 errors.
