Cougars Add Another Signee

April 16, 2003

PULLMAN, Wash. - - The Washington State baseball team added another member to its 2003-04 recruiting class.

Kyle Kendrick, a pitcher-infielder from Mount Vernon (Wash.) High School, singed with WSU this week, becoming the eighth player to sign a National Letter of Intent with the Cougars.

Kendrick is a three-sport athlete at Mount Vernon, playing football and basketball in addition to baseball. Kendrick was a first team All-State performer as a defensive back and a punter for the Bulldogs on the gridiron last fall and may play football at WSU. He was a two-time all-league selection in basketball, as well.

As a four-time letterwinner in baseball, Kendrick has been an all-league selection twice and played on the Seattle Mariners' Area Code team last summer. Kendrick, who pitches and plays shortstop for the Bulldogs, is ranked as the No. 15 prospect in the region by Baseball Northwest. Kendrick is expected to pitch and play a regular position at WSU.

He joins these seven players who signed with the Cougars in the fall: Jason Freeman (Kennewick, Wash.), Jared Arehart (Idaho Falls, Idaho), Jordan Pratt (Monmouth, Ore.), Bryan Stone (Phoenix, Ariz.), Wayne Daman Jr. (Beaver, Wash.), Jeff Miller (Bellevue, Wash.) and Justin McClure (Anaheim Hills, Calif.).
