Five Cal Women's Gymnasts Earn Pac-10 All-Academic Honors

Walnut Creek, Calif. - Five gymnasts from the 2003 California women's gymnastics team were named to the Pac-10 All-Academic squad, announced by the Pacific-10 Conference Wednesday, April 16. Sophomore developmental studies major My-Lan Dodd was named second team All-Academic for the second consecutive year.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, the student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant substitute.
In addition to Dodd's second-team honor, senior tri-captain Janet McKnight earned her third consecutive honorable mention, while junior tri-captain Karissa Chock claimed her second consecutive award. Sophomores Adrienne Garcia and Lauren Shipp were also named to the honorable mention squad - the first such honor for both.
While the 2003 season is complete for the Cal women's gymnastics squad, Dodd qualified for the NCAA National Championships as an individual all-arounder. The championships will take place in Lincoln, Neb. April 24-26.
