Seven Bruin Gymnasts Selected to Pac-10 All-Academic Team

Walnut Creek, CA - The Pac-10 champion UCLA Gymnastics team placed seven student-athletes on the Academic All-Conference team, including first-team selections Kristin Parker (Hanford, CA) and Onnie Willis (Tacoma, WA).

Parker, a senior majoring in Psychology, is a third-year selection, earning a 3.74 cumulative grade point average. The three-time All-American and school-record holder on floor (10.0) was a Verizon Academic All-District team member in 2001 and 2002 and has earned NACGC Scholastic All-America acclaim the past three seasons.

Willis, also a senior Psychology major, holds a 3.66 gpa and earns her second first-team honor of her career and her third honor overall. She was also selected as a 2003 Arthur Ashe Sports Scholar Award winner for the second consecutive year and was a two-time Verizon Academic All-District selection. Willis is the Pac-10 Gymnast of the Year this season and was also the 2002 Pac-10 all-around champion and the 2001 NCAA all-around co-champion.

Junior Jamie Williams (Tucson, AZ) earned second-team honors for posting a 3.78 GPA in Psychology. Fellow juniors Alyssa Beckerman (Middletown, NJ), Jamie Dantzscher (San Dimas, CA) and Yvonne Tousek (Cambridge, ON) earned repeat honorable mention honors, and redshirt freshman Christie Tedmon (Carmichael, CA) received honorable mention honors for the first time in her career.

In order to be eligible for Pac-10 All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant substitute.
